Mr. Restad has asked me a very interesting question, that being do I think people should be aware and read national and world news? I absolutely do think people should read and try to understand and relate even on some point of the news. Living in the world we live in today, news is becoming a huge controversy in the idea that people have to try and decide what is fake news and what is not. In order to be fully aware of the world around us people need to read multiple news sources in order to get the whole story and both sides opinions so we can create our own based on ALL the information.
Some important news stories that I read included Lockwood getting a freshman academy for next year, google maps is using a new type of technology to help people in cities, and also about the Ex-Miles City trainer who plead guilty. The Lockwood academy is important because this could affect how much money schools get for funding because Senior and other schools Lockwood kids go to would lose numbers and that could potentially cause funding decreasing. New technology with google is important as well because people who get lost easy in big cities will be able to improve their skills in navigation with the new things they are introducing such as arrows to help people walking find their way. Lastly I read about the Miles City trainer who plead guilty. This is important because it shows that even in towns as little as Miles City bad things can happen and people should know this. Overall, news is important so read it.
School district 2 received a list of subjects that students and teachers may not have access to on school computers anymore on the Monday following Christmas break. Senior High student, Clara Bentler said while some content should clearly be blocked, the new system is blocking important information students need to access for schoolwork and their own knowledge. Especially for research projects and other important topics that are easier to teach with internet access.
This article in the Billings Gazette would be considered a trend feature due to the fact that it has exampled from a person, and organization that the wifi changes is having an impact on. This feature is timely, has human interest, and is in close proximity of Billings, and also Senior high. https://www.kulr8.com/news/new-restrictions-on-sd-s-wi-fi-causes-confusion/article_b6a07188-2297-11e9-9514-e76bb54f8ee6.html Lockwood placed 3rd PBR event dedicated to fallen bull rider Mason Lowe. In Denver Mason Lowe was coming out of the shoot on a bull weighing around 1,700 lbs and was thrown off. In the mist of trying to get up he was stomped. Lowe was taken to the hospital and later died due to his injury. Trying to find something proximal, timely, prominent, in my proximity, and has consequence is kinda difficult. However, growing up around Forsyth and running into the Lockwoods at track meets and what not helps a lot when I see Jess Lockwoods name in the news. In Denver Lockwood scored an 89.5 on a Bull named Hooky and then 86 on Skin and Bones. Lockwood was bucked off in 2.12 seconds by Smooth Wreck in his championship round picked up 105 world points with an earning of $9,960.26. That is a lot of money to make in a single night. With this kind of money comes with risks liked above.
